The Hungarian embassy in Kuala Lumpur was established in 1991. The Embassy of Hungary in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia temporarily closed in 2009 but reopened in 2015. The Hungarian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur supports Malaysia citizens through its consular services.

Required Documents for Hungary Visa Application

Make sure to collect all the required documents. If you are under the age of 18, in addition to the standard required documents, you are obligated to provide a few additional requirements.

1. Valid passport

Your passport must not be older than ten years and must have two blank pages. The passport must have validity even after the date you plan to leave Hungary.

2. Passport-sized photo

Take one photograph in a passport format of 3,5mm x 4,5mm. The photo you submit should not be older than three months and should be glued to your passport.

3. Schengen Health Insurance

Travel insurance should be valid for the whole period of your stay and must have at least a minimum of 30,000€ of coverage within Hungary and all the Schengen area. The Hungarian Consulate provides a corridor for a two-week period with a single-entry visa in cases of medical insurance.

4. Cover letter

Write a cover letter including your travel information, the reason for your visit, and a travel itinerary of what you have planned to do during your stay in Hungary.

5. Flight itinerary

Provide details of your flight, flight reservation, or confirmation and the date you plan to enter and leave Hungary.

6. Confirmed accommodation

Documents that prove you have found a place to live or stay (hotel, family member, friend, etc.) in Hungary during the time your visa is valid. Mention the Proof of civil status. Documents that show whether you are married, divorced, widowed, or in a relationship. A bank statement of the last three months can be used to prove that you have sufficient money to cover all of your expenses during your stay in Hungary.

Types of Visa

1.Tourist visa

Hungary tourist visa also called as a short-stay visa. Requirements of tourist visa are follows:

• Round-trip flight reservation or a detailed itinerary

Validity of Tourist visa

A Hungary tourist visa is valid for  90 days within a 180-day period (6 months). If you want to stay for a longer duration, you need to apply for a long-stay visa.

2. Airport transit visa

You may be required to apply for a Hungary Airport Transit Visa if you land at one of the airports, so that you can board another flight to reach your destination country.

3. Work visa

To work in Hungary, you need to have a work permit. A Schengen Business Visa in Hungary is a visa issued for the purposes of business meetings, contracts signed, and other types of commercial travel within the territory of Hungary.

• Employment details like contract or a letter from the employer

Work visa validity

A work visa is valid for no more than 90 days within a 180-day period (6 months). If you want to stay for a longer duration, you need to apply for a long-stay visa.

4. Study visa

If the purpose of your visit to Hungary is to take part in a course, train, or study, you have to apply for this visa.

• Valid passport with minimum two blank pages
• Completed and signed visa application form
• Proof of accommodation
• High school diploma
• Proof of funds
• Invitation letter from the university
• Health insurance
• Proof of English language proficiency
• At least two passport-size photographs
• Proof of payment of university fees
• Proof of sponsorship/scholarship, if any

Study visa validity

Depending on the type of course you take, your student visa in Hungary will be valid. You can extend the visa as per the duration of the course. The stay duration for a normal multiple entry visa is 90 days.

5. Medical visa

You need a Hungarian Schengen Medical Visa if you have to undergo medical treatment in Hungary and medicine or surgery. You also have to apply for the Hungarian Medical Visa if you are accompanying someone who is travelling to Hungary to receive medical treatment.

• Round-trip flight reservation or a detailed itinerary

• A medical report from the local hospital
• Confirmation for treatment from the hospital in Hungary

Medical visa validity

A medical visa is valid for no more than 90 days within a 180-day period (6 months). If your medical treatment extends, you need to re-apply for a long-stay visa.

Processing Time for a Hungary Visa

The visa processing time for a visa application must not exceed 15 days. In case where the processing time can be extended to 45 days are no exception. The processing time for applications of countries with a visa facilitation agreement with the European Union is ten days

Rejection Of Application

There are some reason for rejecting the application.

• Criminal record
• Forged travel documents
• Fail to prove the purpose and conditions of the  stay
• Proof have sufficient income for the duration of your stay in Hungary
• Damaged passport
