Malaysia Airlines is the anchor tenant at KLIA, calling Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) home.

The airline began life as Malayan Airways in 1947, gradually building a reputation for a high standard of service and reliability as MSA in the 1960s. In 1972, the airline split into Malaysian Airline System (MH) and Singapore Airlines (SQ), with the former evolving into today’s Malaysia Airlines.

Malaysia Airlines Baggage Allowance

The weight of your cabin baggage plus any additional item listed below must be within the maximum weight of the cabin baggage allowance of 14 kg or 31 lbs and should not exceed 158 cm (62 in). Checked baggage must not exceed 32kg (70 lb.) for Business Suite/Business Class and 23 kg (50 lb.) for Economy Class. However, Malaysia Airlines flights allow free carriage of baby equipment (e.g. stroller, baby seat, car seat, playpen), personal medical equipment (e.g. manual wheelchairs, motorised wheelchairs (dry and gel cell batteries only), crutches, canes, walkers, back supports, wheelchair and back inserts.

You may carry any one of the following items free of charge, provided it is within the maximum weight of the cabin baggage allowance:

  • Small camera bag or a notebook or a laptop computer (including case and accessories, in a dedicated computer bag)
  • Handbag (male/female) or a briefcase.

Meet and Assist specific counter for elderly or senior citizens travelling on a Malaysia Airlines flight

There are no specific counter allocations for elderly or senior citizens. However, if an elderly or a senior citizen is travelling alone, you may request for the ‘Meet and Assist’ service before the departure by contacting the call centre of the airline. On the day of your departure, you can approach the airline staff at the airport for assistance.
