List of Australian visa Types

1. Documents Required for Australia Visitors visa

When you apply for a visa for Australia, you will have to submit the following documents:

1. Passport

You must hold a valid passport (at least 6 months before the expiration date) when you apply for an Australian visa.

2. Australian Visa Form

The forms are different for each visa type so select the form that corresponds to your visa. If you’re applying online for the visa, then you can find the selection of forms in your ImmiAccount. If you are applying in person, then you have to download the correct form and fill it in.

3. Paid Visa Fee

4. One Identity Picture.

  • Photos should not be older than six months.
  • The photo size has to be 35mm to 40 mm wide and 45mm to 50 mm high.
  • The photo background should be plain, preferably white background.
  • The photo should be high quality.
  • Subject’s face must be centered and fully visible
  • Head or face accessories are not allowed

5. National Identity Card

If you possess a national ID card, then you have to provide a scanned copy of it with the rest of your documents.

6. Police Certificate

When applying for a visa, you have to provide proof of good character. This means you have to be completely honest about your criminal activity and sometime during your application (before or after), you have to submit a police certificate.

7. Family Certificates

You may also be asked to submit valid copies of civil documents such as your birth certificate, marriage license, divorce papers, adoption papers (if applicable), etc. This also includes certificates in cases where you may have changed your name legally.

8. Evidence of Financial Means

When you plan on going to Australia you have to provide evidence that you can finance your trip on your own, you can include:

  • Bank statements.
  • Pay slips.
  • Audited accounts.
  • Taxation records.
  • Credit card limit.
  • Evidence of support from family members (student visa and family visa)

9. Health Insurance

While health insurance may not always be a requirement when you travel to Australia, the Australian government strongly encourages visitors to purchase private insurance before traveling.

11. Evidence of Temporary Stay

You have to provide evidence that you can meet the temporary stay condition as stated by your visa type.

12. Detailed Itinerary

  • Booked / Confirmed Flight Itinerary
  • Round Trip Reservation
  • Flight Reservation / Confirmation
  • Confirmed / Round trip Flight tickets
  • Proof of Onward Travel, etc.

13. Accommodation Reservations

This proof/certificate/letter can either be a:

  • Hotel booking,
  • Host invitation – if you are planning to stay over at friends or family members/relatives,
  • Confirmation by an organized tour operator or holiday tours, or
  • Rental agreement / contract.

14. Employer Permission Letter

If you are employed, then you must also attach a letter from your employer stating permission for your travels.

15. Invitation Letter

The invitation letter must include important hosts information such as:

  • Full name (first, middle and last name).
  • Date of birth.
  • Full address.
  • Telephone number.
  • Residency status (proof of residency or citizenship).
  • Current occupation.
  • Visit and departure date.
  • Description of the relationship between the applicant and the host (family, friend, partner, etc.)

2. Requirements for Australia Study Visas

These are the general requirements for a student visa 500 and training visa 407:

  • Valid Passport.
  • Biometric Data and Identity Photograph.
  • Visa Application Form.
  • Civil Documents.
  • Health Insurance.
  • Proof of Financial Means.
  • Proof of English Language Skills.
